Private sellerProduct description
This is a substantial carved oak cabinet, distinguished by a custom, hand-painted finish. The piece makes a significant statement through its impressive scale and the intricate, high-relief carvings that cover its facade, drawing inspiration from historical European furniture design.
The cabinet is constructed from solid oak, visible in its unpainted interior which features ample shelving. The exterior is a work of art, showcasing a unique polychrome finish in a palette of soft lavender, warm ochre, turquoise with gilded accents that highlight the depth of the carvings. The artists colour palette inspiration is drawn from Claude Monet's waterlilies. The piece is configured in two sections, with a total of four doors and two central drawers, all fitted with ornate gold-toned metal hardware. The entire structure rests on traditional bun feet, completing its classic silhouette.
In excellent condition, the cabinet's integrity is sound, and its custom paintwork is well-preserved. The finish has a soft, matte quality with subtle variations in tone that give it an authentic, lived-in character, suggesting a piece with a unique history. The interior is clean and maintains the natural beauty of the oak wood grain, sealed in shellac providing a warm contrast to the colourful exterior.
This cabinet is perfectly suited to serve as a commanding focal point in a dining room, living area, or a spacious hallway. Its distinctive style would complement an eclectic, Bohemian, or Parisian-style interior, offering both significant storage and a powerful decorative element.
