Product description
This mid-century modern three-seater sofa was designed by Gustav Thams for the Danish manufacturer A/S Vejen. The piece exemplifies the organic forms and functional elegance characteristic of Scandinavian design from this era, featuring a distinctive sculptural frame and a vibrant, new textured upholstery.
The sofa is constructed with a solid teak frame, showcasing the natural grain and warm tones of the wood. The upholstery is a durable, woven textile in a striking chartreuse or yellow-green hue, complete with button-tufted detailing on the backrest cushions. The design includes a movable headrest pillow for added comfort. The exposed wooden frame at the back highlights the craftsmanship and structural integrity of the piece.
The sofa remains in good vintage condition, with the teak frame displaying a rich patina consistent with age and use. The upholstery is intact, preserving the original character of the design. The structural elements, including the webbing and hardware, are functional and well-maintained.
This Gustav Thams sofa serves as a compelling focal point in a mid-century modern or contemporary living space. Its vibrant colour and organic wooden frame pair well with neutral interiors or other teak furniture, offering both visual interest and comfortable seating.
