Karin Sommen graduated from the Utrecht School of Arts in 1994 and completed the advanced degree in painting at the art academy in Hoogstraten (B) as a laureate in 2017. As a visual artist, Karin creates work that, just like herself, is constantly in motion: searching, traveling, on the road. In recent years, this has resulted in various paintings and painting series. Since 2015, Karin has exhibited regularly at home and abroad, for example at the Stedelijk Museum in Hoogstraten, Belgium (2017), gallery MAF in Meerle, Belgium (2018), and various public buildings in the Netherlands.
