Product description
During the Gründerzeit era, a Desk like this stood in notary offices and bureaus, solidly built for a lifetime of work. The two pedestals are made of solid oak, the doors are decorated with carved ornaments, and the apron front is rhythmized with fluting. Everything runs on turned feet, the drawers close snugly, and the wood bears the patina of over a century of use.
This piece comes from a German carpentry workshop, presumably created at the end of the 19th century. The surface shows signs of wear that give the furniture character – scratches, discolorations, minor pressure marks. Doors and drawers function, the fittings are still original. A piece that takes work seriously and was made to last.
