Private sellerProduct description
Antique Empire or Biedermeier Storage cabinet (or cushion cabinet/wardrobe) from the 19th century (presumably around 1810–1840).
Empire-style elements: On the sides of the doors, the freestanding, round wooden columns stand out, finished at the top and bottom with brass ornaments (rings/pedestals). This is a typical neoclassical feature from the Empire period.
Biedermeier influences: The wavy, inlaid panels on the doors (the cushions) and the tighter, somewhat sober design of the woodwork lean towards the Biedermeier style, which followed the Empire style.
The Storage cabinet has detailed brass fittings. The round handles on the drawers are decorated with a classic motif (often an urn or garland). The key plates on the doors have an elegant, organic shape.
The cabinet has two shelves, and a total of 5 drawers.
The lower cabinet has three wide drawers for ample storage space.
The cabinet is made of a rich type of wood, very likely oak, and has a large upper cabinet with hinged doors and a lower cabinet with deep drawers.
The doors do not close completely (gap), possibly solvable by properly adjusting the doors.
