Beautiful mouth-blown fazzoletto pendant lamp (Italian for “handkerchief”) from the 1970s. This lamp is a design by the German firm Peill & Putzler. The company, formed from the merger between glass factory Peill und Sohn and Putzler, was known for its craftsmanship in glass and lighting, and remained active until 2004.
The shade features a visible, two-tone green ribbed structure and is made using the incamiciato technique: glass with two layers, an inner layer of milky white glass and an outer layer of colored glass, pressed or blown by hand. This glass technique originates from the Italian island of Murano.
The lamp is still in very good condition. Both the socket and the wiring have been recently renewed. As can be seen in the photos, a white line runs through the lamp. You can only see this when the lamp is switched on. However, this appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than a crack. No breakage can be observed on either the inside or the outside. This phenomenon seems to occur in multiple of these lamps.
