The naked woman lies vulnerable and surrendered on the rock, into which her loose, long hair flows. The artist illustrates humanity's connection with Mother Earth and how, just like nature, we are very vulnerable. Gold is a color that symbolizes abundance and strength, but because of the warm glow this sculpture exudes, gold is also seen as a sunny, positive, and uplifting color. This sculpture can add a sunny new dimension to your surroundings. The various shades of green of the rock represent peace and stability.
Chantalle Smeets has developed a unique, timeless style, which is reflected in her sculptures of bronze, stone, ceramic, and wood. Her inspiration is nature. Her art radiates joy, strength, and beauty, with a unique character. The tranquility of her sculptures can offer a moment of introspection and peace, a touch of something larger beyond thought. This is what nature can also offer us, and the necessity of our connection with nature. She wants to share this through her art. Together with her partner, artist Martiene Stevens, they manage Kunsthuis Trobar. She has exhibited at various galleries and castles (including sculpture gardens) in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, and her sculptures increasingly travel throughout Europe, the Americas, and the Canary Islands.
