Joan Granados Llimona was a prominent artist born in Barcelona in 1931, who passed away in Sant Joan les Fonts in 2005.
Biography
Following the Spanish Civil War, Joan's family went into exile in France. However, over time, they returned to Catalonia—specifically to Sant Joan les Fonts—where Joan began his drawing studies. From an early age, he demonstrated a great talent for drawing. In 1947, he studied drawing under Martí Casadevall, a professor at the Escola de Belles Arts d’Olot. Throughout the following years, he explored the art world, focusing on landscapes and human anatomy. Between 1949 and 1951, he studied in several artist workshops in Barcelona and Olot, earning a degree in Applied Arts from the Llotja in Barcelona. From then on, his artistic career was marked by numerous exhibitions both in Spain and abroad.
Awards and Recognition
Throughout his career, Joan received numerous awards and accolades. Some of the most notable include the Runner-up Prize at the El deporte en las Bellas Artes (Sports in Fine Arts) exhibition in Madrid, First Prize for Drawing at the Museu Andorrà, as well as two Gold and two Silver Medals at the Girona Provincial Competition.
