This rare Friedrich Goldscheider Claire Weiss (Herczeg-Weiss) Art Deco lady in a long dress, model 7040, Vienna, c. 1934–1935, is a highly decorative and elegant example of Austrian Art Deco ceramics.
The figure depicts a graceful young woman in a long, flowing dress, with the characteristic refined elegance and stylised Art Deco aesthetics of Claire Weiss's work.
In restored condition.
Dimensions: 28,5 x 12 x 10cm
The sculpture is marked to the base with the original Goldscheider Wien / Made in Austria factory marks and the impressed model number 7040.
Model no. 7040 is a documented early Claire Weiss model and is recorded in specialist literature among her Goldscheider works.
The piece has undergone restoration. The restored areas include the hair, the edge of the skirt, the lower part of the base, and the areas around the feet where the figure meets the base. The restoration around the feet suggests that the figure may previously have broken away from the base and was subsequently reattached. Visible traces of the previous repairs remain, particularly on the hair.
