Swedish designer lamp by Carl Thore, pseudonym for Sigurd Lindkvist, born in 1916 in Åmål, in Dalsland, Sweden. Lindkvist began his career as a lighting designer at Luko, after which he moved to Granhaga Metallindustri in 1961. There he designed lamps and was also head of sales until his retirement around 1981.
This is a rather unique example. While Carl Thore lamps are usually made entirely of metal, this lamp features a white plastic circle in the center. When the lamp is switched on, the light shines beautifully through it, while the round metal discs spread the light nicely throughout the room.
Despite its age, the lamp is still in very good condition. On the inside, the white light is discolored and there are a few minimal signs of use visible, but otherwise the lamp looks almost like new.
