This gilt-bronze statue depicts Green Tara, the active bodhisattva of compassion, protection, and enlightened action within Himalayan Buddhism. The figure is seated gracefully on a modelled lotus base, featuring an elegant posture, an elaborate crown, finely detailed jewellery, and a calm yet alert expression that reflects her role as a compassionate protector. The piece is traditionally hollow-cast in bronze and retains its closed underside. It features original fire gilding, with irregular, naturally aged layers applied directly to the metal. The raised areas have been softened through prolonged ritual handling, while protected recesses retain stronger traces of gold. Original facial painting remains visible on the eyes and lips, consisting of multiple aged layers applied over the gilding. The statue measures 14 centimetres in height and 9 centimetres in width. The statue is in good condition, showing wear consistent with age and ritual use. The patina and original finish are preserved, and the piece retains its structural integrity and spiritual resonance. Despite its compact dimensions, this Green Tara statue has a refined presence. It is well-suited for a private altar, a display cabinet, or as part of a curated collection of Himalayan Buddhist art.
