About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
The Plia folding chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli, is a defining piece of mid-century Italian design. This specific iteration features a distinctive brown leather seat and backrest, offering a sophisticated contrast to the canonical transparent models.
Constructed with a polished aluminium frame, the chair utilises Piretti's innovative three-disk hinge mechanism, which allows the piece to fold completely flat. The upholstery is executed in brown leather, providing a tactile and durable seating surface. The combination of the metallic frame and the rich brown tone of the leather creates a balanced aesthetic typical of the era's functional yet elegant approach to furniture design.
The chair remains fully functional, with the folding mechanism operating as intended. The leather exhibits a patina consistent with age and use, reflecting its history while maintaining its structural integrity.
This chair is well-suited for a variety of interior settings, from a home office to a dining area. Its folding capability makes it an excellent choice for spaces requiring flexible seating solutions, while its design pedigree ensures it stands as a notable accent piece.
