Product description
For sale: A large panoramic forest view by plein-air painter Gertjan Scholte-Albers (1971). A row of gnarled, dark tree trunks stands before a pond in which sky and trees are reflected. Behind it, golden-orange reeds glow under a clear blue sky full of green splatters. The paint is thick and pasty on the canvas, so you can see every stroke and splatter. The work pops into the room and changes with the daylight. About The Artist Scholte-Albers studied at the AKI in Enschede and, already during his studies, exchanged the studio for the outdoors. Rain or shine, he travels by bicycle or moped with a cart full of painting supplies into the Groningen and Drenthe landscape. He paints not reality but the experience of it. For this, he even developed his own "inverted" color wheel, the source of his recognizable, unexpected color combinations. Forest views and elongated panoramas are his trademark. He exhibits in galleries and museums and has won, among others, the Buning Brongers-prijs and the Gerrit van Houten-prijs. Oil on canvas, 200 x 60 cm. Pick up in De Meern, Utrecht.
