Product description
German Pentacon Penti II Camera (1960s, East Germany) – Mechanically Functional
For sale is the iconic, collectible Pentacon Penti II half-frame camera, one of the most recognizable and stylish designs from the East German (GDR) era. The device impresses with its unique design – the body is made of gold-plated, anodized aluminum, which perfectly complements the light-colored inserts and a dedicated case. The camera is equipped with a very good, wide-angle Meyer-Optik Görlitz Domiplan 1:3.5 / 30mm lens and a built-in light meter. This design allows for twice as many exposures on standard 35mm film (18x24mm frame format in the rapid cartridge system).
About the Pentacon brand and the Penti series:
The Pentacon factory in Dresden was a photographic powerhouse in the Eastern Bloc, known for producing, among other products, Praktica cameras. The Penti series, originally introduced by Welta, was created as an elegant, pocket-sized camera for women. Besides its exceptional beauty, the camera gained fame for its innovative quick-cocking system: after taking a picture, a metal pin protrudes from the left side of the housing. Pressing it simultaneously advances the film and cocks the shutter.
Technical and visual condition:
Mechanical: The camera is in good working order. The characteristic cocking system operates smoothly, the pin extends and retracts correctly, and the shutter responds dynamically to the trigger (clicks). The device has not been tested with photographic film.
Visual condition: Very good condition, as seen in the attached photo (real photo). The gold-plated metal plating and bright finish elements are clean and aesthetically pleasing.
Overall dimensions:
Dimensions of the camera with the case: approx. 8.5 x 11.5 x 5 cm
Dimensions of the camera itself: approx. 7.5 x 10.5 x 4 cm
(Very handy, compact design – perfect as a sophisticated decoration for a shelf, desk, or collector's display case).
Includes:
Pentacon Penti II analog camera.
Original, contoured, light gray hard case with a shoulder strap (interior lined with elegant red fabric).
