About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a sculptural ceramic object by the German artist Gerburg Karthausen, dating from approximately 1999. The work functions both as an autonomous Sculpture and a small, decorative vase, characterized by its sleek, architectural form. The object is made of ceramic with a cream-white glaze, accented by a pattern of black, graphic lines that define the geometric planes. The shape is asymmetrical and angular, giving it a dynamic and modern appearance. The craquelure in the glaze is a characteristic of the firing process and age, contributing to the unique character of the piece. The object is in good overall condition, maintaining its structural integrity and visual strength. The piece is an example of late 20th-century ceramic design, exploring the boundary between art and functional object. Due to its modest size and strong visual presence, this object is an excellent addition to a sideboard, bookshelf, or as part of a collection of studio ceramics. It fits well within a minimalist, modern, or eclectic interior.
