This classic rocking chair was designed by Karl-Axel Adolfsson for the oldest Swedish manufacturer, Gemla Fabrikers, model Isabella. The design (1950s-1960s) is characterized by the high, slatted back and the elegant, curved armrests, making it a recognizable piece of Scandinavian design.
The chair is crafted from wood finished in black lacquer, with contrasting white accents on the ends of the backrest and the lower crossbar. The seat and headrest are upholstered in a striped textile fabric in shades of pink, red, and purple. The construction displays the craftsmanship Gemla is known for, with turned details on the front legs and armrests.
The furniture is in good condition, commensurate with its age and use. The original finish has been preserved, contributing to the chair's authentic character. The chair has been reupholstered and is easy to re-upholster.
