7 is the most frequently cited favorite number of people.
With the Series 7™, Arne Jacobsen made design history and created one of the best-selling chairs of all time with the 3107 chair.
Certainly, the success of the Series 7™, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 for the Danish furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen, is not solely due to the magic of the number 7.
The chairs in the series, including the arguably most popular model, the Jacobsen 3107, were not a happy accident. Their triumph is the result of pioneering spirit, daring, perseverance, a drive for innovation, and a highly productive collaboration between designer and manufacturer. With so much personal dedication, the necessary bit of luck simply came along with it.
Building on the Ant chair, which in 1952 was the first result of the experiment to mold a seat shell from a single piece of plywood, Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen developed the characteristic shape of the Series 7™. All related products are distinguished by their continuous seat and the elegantly shaped, narrow waist that rises above a four-legged base in the Jacobsen 3107.
Features
The Jacobsen 3107 chair by Fritz Hansen is stackable and can therefore be stored in a space-saving manner until it is needed in convention halls, conference rooms, or elsewhere.
It is equally at home in canteens and waiting rooms as it is at the dining table or as an elegant standalone piece that adds a stylish design accent to any room.
Materials & Colors
The seat shell of the Fritz Hansen 3107 chair is made of molded, laminated veneer. The core veneer is always beech, while the top veneer can be individually selected.
The four-legged base is made of chrome-plated steel. The black plastic foot caps on the base protect the floor and the chair's legs when it is moved.
