Product description
Fridegart Glatzle for Karlsruher Majolika – Sculptural Blue Ceramic Vase, Model 6045, 1956 Design, Germany
A beautifully restrained example of postwar German ceramic design, this sculptural blue vase was designed by Fridegart Glatzle for Karlsruher Majolika in 1956.
Its generously rounded body, softly curved shoulders, and recessed circular opening create an elegant, almost spherical silhouette. The saturated blue satin glaze reveals subtle tonal variations and a finely textured surface, lending depth and character to its minimalist form.
At 26 cm tall, the vase has a substantial sculptural presence, equally compelling as a standalone object or with a simple floral arrangement.
About the Designer
Fridegart Glatzle (1920–2015) was an influential German ceramic designer whose work helped shape the modernist identity of Karlsruher Majolika during the postwar period.
Awarded the Baden-Württemberg State Prize for craftsmanship in 1959, Glatzle developed a distinctive design language characterised by sculptural simplicity, balanced proportions, and expressive glazes.
Her work is represented in the Museum Europäischer Keramikkunst, reflecting her significance within twentieth-century German ceramic design.
