Private sellerProduct description
Late XIXth century French reclining library armchair, crafted circa 1900, featuring a solid wood structure, original iron reclining mechanism and authentic leather upholstery.
This piece has been carefully cleaned and nourished to revive the natural flexibility of the leather while preserving its original patina. No heavy restoration has been applied, allowing the chair to retain its honest character and visible history.
The leather displays rich cognac and tobacco tones, with natural variations, surface cracking and wear consistent with its age. These elements have been intentionally preserved as part of the chair’s aesthetic and authenticity, rather than concealed.
The reclining mechanism is fully functional, offering multiple positions, and the structure remains solid and comfortable for everyday use.
Decorative details such as the hand-applied nailhead trim, curved backrest and carved front legs reinforce its French origin and period craftsmanship.
A highly decorative and atmospheric piece, ideal for interiors where authenticity, texture and character are valued over uniform perfection.
