Description
Richly decorated French mirror with sculptural rocaille ornamentation and floral motifs. The frame features a profiled edge with pearl ornament and a pronounced crest with acanthus leaves and rocaille. On the sides, there are decorative scroll ornaments that visually lengthen the frame. The reverse bears a studio stamp of N. Guillot Jeune, tapestry maker in Saumur, indicating a French interior or furniture workshop where such mirrors were often part of complete interior ensembles.
Due to the pronounced ornamentation and warm gilding, the mirror has a strong decorative character, suitable for classical and eclectic interiors.
Condition
Used and restored. Cracks visible in the wooden frame and wear to the gilding. A few small ornaments are currently missing; loose original ornament fragments are supplied separately. Mirror glass shows signs of age.
