Product description
This is a handmade French faience cachepot, crafted in the traditional Rouen style. The piece stands out with its rich, polychrome decoration and classic shape with a scalloped rim and graceful handles, characteristic of this type of earthenware. The cachepot is made of ceramic and is entirely hand-painted, as indicated by the 'Fait Main' mark on the underside. The complex pattern consists of floral motifs and rocaille-like scrolls, executed in a vibrant palette of cobalt blue, sunny yellow, green, and orange-red on a cream-colored background. The technique and style pay homage to the long history of faience production in the Normandy region. The overall condition of the pot is very good, retaining the brightness of the colors and the luster of the glaze. The handmade character is visible in the small variations in the painting, which makes each piece unique. The inside is simply glazed, ready for use. This cachepot is a charming addition to a classic, rural, or eclectic interior. It can serve as an elegant plant pot for a houseplant or as a standalone decorative object on a dresser, console, or windowsill. Period: Approx. 1920 – 1950 (early to mid-20th century). Dimensions: Height: 17 cm Diameter: 21 cm
