Product description
Large French grandfather clock case in solid cherry wood, dating from the early 19th century.
With its elegant, slender proportions, it features traditional panelled construction, a glazed upper door for the clock face, and a long central door adorned with a circular oculus offering a glimpse of the pendulum. The front retains a beautiful, warm, natural patina, highlighting the cherry wood grain.
The interior and back, left unfinished, attest to its age. Signs of wear, irregularities, cracks, and old traces of wood-boring insects, primarily on the reverse, are consistent with the piece's age.
Sold as a case only, without movement, dial, pendulum, or weights.
Thanks to its very slender silhouette and narrow width, this antique clock case could also be repurposed as a small display case, a cabinet of curiosities, a narrow bookcase, or an exhibition piece. The interior can accommodate wooden or glass shelves, possibly with discreet lighting, while retaining the original crate and its patina. It can thus become a unique decorative piece in an entryway, living room, library, or contemporary interior.
