This early 18th-century French oak mirror is richly carved with seashells, flowers, foliage, and graceful scrolls, while the mirror plate is encircled by a delicate frieze of beads. Likely a frame later converted into a mirror, it features an antique mercury plate with attractive foxing.The finely carved motifs are enhanced by the deep brown of the oak, its natural veining, and the tactile quality of the hand-carving. In excellent condition, this rare mirror combines refined craftsmanship with subtle patina.
