Unique set of six chairs created in the early 1990s by a french designer and blacksmith. This ensemble strongly reflects the surrealist legacy characteristic of this period, where fantasy and ornament are fully embraced. The structure is entirely crafted in finely worked wrought iron, demonstrating remarkable delicacy. The seat is upholstered in an off white Alcantara from Maison Lelièvre, creating a soft contrast with the brutalism of the metal framework. The highly sculptural base draws a bouquet unfolding on the ground before converging beneath the seat. At its center, a gilded bronze flower punctuates the composition, both a decorative and symbolic element that fully embodies their organic inspiration. The backrest is composed of a circular form crossed by a vertical line that extends upward into a handle, facilitating grip and movement. This formal vocabulary also recalls certain models created in the 1960s, notably the Grain de café model by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, where furniture approaches sculpture and draws its inspiration directly from nature. These chairs indeed reflect the late twentieth century’s taste for expressive furniture, combining exceptional craftsmanship with a singular approach to material and a narrative understanding of form. The set is in perfect condition and has been fully restored by our workshop.
