Product description
This is a set of two French Art Deco bookends from the 1930s, featuring stylized baby deer on a marble base. The design reflects the elegance and preference for geometric shapes and luxurious materials characteristic of the Art Deco period. Each bookend consists of a sculpture of a deer, made of dark patinated metal, possibly bronze, with contrasting brass hooves. The figures stand on a solid, rectangular base of white marble with grey veining. The total height of each piece is approximately 14 cm, and the base has a depth of approximately 11 cm. This set is an authentic example of French design from that era. The overall condition is good and consistent with the age of the objects. A few small imperfections, see photos. The original patina on the metal has been preserved, contributing to the vintage character of the set. The combination of dark metal and light marble creates a refined visual contrast. These bookends are not only functional for organizing a library or bookshelf but also serve as an elegant decorative accent. They fit perfectly into a classic, eclectic, or Art Deco-inspired interior and add a touch of historical charm to a desk, dresser, or mantelpiece.
