Product description
This antique French plate is a refined piece from the renowned manufacturer Creil et Montereau, crafted from ceramic. The piece illustrates the enduring European fascination with Asian aesthetics, known as Chinoiserie.
The plate is executed in a classic blue and white color scheme, applied with the transferware technique. The central scene depicts a detailed garden with blossoming branches and a fence, surrounded by a complex border with geometric and floral motifs in cartouches. The stamp 'Déposé Creil Montereau L M & Cie' on the underside dates the production to the period of approximately 1840 to 1876, confirming its authenticity and historical value.
The overall condition of the plate is very good, retaining the clarity of the glaze and the sharpness of the decoration. It exhibits a character consistent with its considerable age, without significant damage affecting its aesthetic integrity.
This plate is an elegant decorative object in itself, suitable for a wall display or in a display cabinet. It fits seamlessly into a classic, eclectic, or country interior and adds a touch of French history to any collection.
