Beautiful early 1900's gilt bronze jewelery box in Louis XVI style, of French origin. It has a delicately hand-painted miniature portrait on porcelain behind glass at its center, and an interior with the fabulous original padded floral fabric lining, which is a rare find. The painting is of a detailed noblewoman in period attire. This trinket has a gilded bronze body adorned with intricate detailing like laurel wreath embellishments surrounding the portrait and a twisted cord effect defining a few rims. A wonderfully charming and unique casket that can be used to store jewels and treasures or functions equally well as a decorative item. A highly elegant and useful piece!
