Frederic Weinberg was an artist and industrial designer from Philadelphia, trained at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. In the 1950s, under his company Frederic Weinberg Co., he designed, produced, and sold various functional and decorative objects.
This set of chairs is made of wrought iron and wicker, with brass details on the backrests. It is precisely this combination of a black metal frame, woven seat, and elegant details that makes the chairs distinctive and recognizable.
The chairs are in good vintage condition, with visible signs of wear consistent with age and use. In addition to light patina, there are scratches in the rattan, some discoloration, and areas where the black lacquer has worn off over the years. The wicker is otherwise very well preserved and feels sturdy. No restoration has been performed.
