Product description
This work, “Sopla”, is an original etching with aquatint by Francisco de Goya. It is plate 28 from the world-famous series Los Caprichos, first published in 1799. In this powerful satire, Goya uses monstrous figures to denounce the vices and superstitions of society. The work is characteristic of the dark atmosphere that permeates much of his graphic work.
The etching “Sopla” is framed to a high standard and is in good condition that highlights the fine details of the aquatint. The contrasts between light and dark give the work dramatic depth. An iconic piece of Spanish art history from the late 18th century for the serious collector.
