This original artwork by the Belgian artist Francine Somers depicts a young African child, executed in mixed media on paper. The work reflects the period Somers spent in Rwanda between 1951 and 1954, a time that had a profound influence on her artistic oeuvre and resulted in various drawings and watercolors with mother and child as the central theme.
