Product description
This vintage pine chest with a drawer from the mid-20th century is a real eye-catcher. It is richly decorated with hand-painted folkloric decorations, executed in a traditional color scheme of warm reds, greens, and subtle yellow accents.
The motifs of flowers, floral vines, and foliage are characteristic of classic Central and Eastern European folk art. The pattern is detailed, vibrant, and graceful, just like those found on traditional wedding and centerpieces.
This charming and rare chest is Hungarian or Romanian origin and would have originally been used as a marriage/dowry box—a place where clothing, linens, and personal belongings were stored in preparation for the wedding.
