Product description
This unique decorative object is an authentic flexographic printing roll from the 1960s, mounted on a wooden tripod. The piece combines industrial heritage with decorative art, resulting in an object with a rich history and a striking visual presence. The cylinder is a fascinating example of mid-century printing technology, now transformed into a sculptural element.
The printing roll itself is made from a combination of wood and rubber, with the rubber plates featuring detailed, carved patterns. These patterns range from geometric motifs to figurative Dutch scenes, executed in black rubber on a lighter wooden background. The roll rests on a dark brown, elegantly crafted Asian-style wooden tripod, creating an elegant contrast with the industrial character of the cylinder.
The object is in good vintage condition, testifying to its age and original function. The materials have developed an authentic patina that adds to the character of the piece. The combination of the industrial roll and the refined tripod makes this a special and conversation-starting item.
In the post-war period, there was a great demand for tiles in the Netherlands due to the extensive construction period. Flexography allowed tiles to be produced faster and on a larger scale. Besides the fact that flexography rolls are almost impossible to find, this roll stands on a magnificent tripod and can be perfectly placed in an interior as a decoration with a beautiful historical story.
