Product description
Authentic piece of South American folk art,
sculptural and rich in history.
This black ceramic statuette called "Gallinita
de la suerte" (little lucky hen) comes
from the famous pottery town of Itá, Paraguay. It is
an emblematic model created in the 1950s by
the great pioneering ceramist Marciana Rojas. The base
bears the incised signature of the family workshop "MARCIANA"
as well as its original serial number.
Hand-shaped using ancestral techniques, it
is distinguished by remarkable engraving work on
the black clay, where each feather is enhanced with white
pigments and topped with a hand-painted bright red comb.
According to Paraguayan tradition, this small black hen,
also called Picha'i, is a talisman that protects the
home and brings good fortune in work.
