Product description
Black like wood-fired pottery, this figurine commands attention from the first glance. A feminine goddess with calm and assured features, adorned with a large, finely sculpted fan-shaped headdress, arms crossed over her chest in a gesture of contemplation. The skirt, flared in a truncated cone shape, is encircled by an incised geometric frieze, reminiscent of Mesoamerican codices. The surface, a deep matte black with a subtle satin sheen, is achieved through the ancestral smoking technique used by Mexican potters from Oaxaca and the Teotihuacan region. Every relief, every facial detail, every lock of hair demonstrates meticulous modeling, bridging the gap between craftsmanship and sculpture. Hollow inside and open at the top, this piece can hold a small dried bouquet, a few sprigs of lavender, or simply take its place in a collection of pre-Columbian art. On a shelf, it stands in dialogue with terracottas, bronzes, and carved woods with natural authority. Excellent state of preservation. Height: 12 cm. Width: approximately 5 cm.
