Beside him, the grey donkey carries all day long: baskets overflowing with purple grapes and oranges, terracotta pitchers, a flask banded in blue. We don't know where they are going, but we know where they come from. From the market, from the orchard, from a simple and full life. This polychrome biscuit figurine group is modeled with remarkable precision and generosity of detail: the folds of the blue jacket, the texture of the donkey's coat, the individual grape berries, the bands on the flask. The polychromy is rich and soft, the matte surface of the biscuit lending a warmth to the skin tones and fabrics that glaze would not have. Oval base imitating grassy terrain.
