A real eye-catcher from the 60s and 70s: floor vase model 553-38 by Scheurich, the most famous West German ceramic manufacturer. Thick black lava flows in relief run over a bright orange, ribbed background, with red and yellow drops in between. Precisely that rough, bumpy glaze makes Fat Lava so popular with collectors.
Beautiful as a statement piece on the floor, a sideboard or on a windowsill, with or without flowers. Marked W. Germany 553-38 on the bottom.
Good vintage condition, with one small chip in the glaze at the bottom (see photo). Felt pads under the base.
