Fabian took his first steps in contemporary art in 1992. From old iron and various metals, he artistically created various objects, sculptures, and statues. Experimenting, learning, and above all enjoying was the motto under which he worked and sold his works to a small audience during that period.
That his artistic expressions did not go unnoticed became clear when, in 1995, none other than the late Herman Brood appeared in his studio, and from that moment on, an intensive collaboration began. Herman visibly enjoyed Fabian's creativity and wanted to learn welding and creating in metal from him.
The young artist enjoyed all the attention and support from Herman, who taught him some fine tricks. Not long after, the so-called Herman Brood trophy was created. An artwork made of old iron, which Herman then painted and presented to a well-known Dutch person who, in Herman's eyes, had done something special or unique. For example, Pistolen Paul, Willibrord, Hans Dulfer, Jules Deelder, etc., once received a magnificent saxophone from Herman Brood, made by Fabian.
The meetings between the two gentlemen followed each other at a rapid pace, after which Herman taught the young artist the finer points of painting. On numerous canvases, both worked together on the composition, with Fabian regularly taking care of the background. Fabian learned quickly and eagerly, and both worked from countless locations on Herman's artworks. This intensive collaboration resulted in a new joint project in 1999, involving the complete furnishing of the first Herman Brood café, which was designed in a very artistic way under the name Go-Ape. That Herman Brood was very charmed by his pupil became clear when Fabian received an invitation to start his own studio with Herman to collaborate even more intensively. Fabian has since built a stable and well-known name in the established art world and is listed in the
R.K.D. register.
