Product description
Original mixed media painting by Fabian on wooden frame. Size 160x90x3cm With added acrylic paint Hand signed Fabian took his first steps in contemporary art in 1992. From scrap iron and various metals, he artistically made various objects, sculptures and statues. Experimenting, learning and above all enjoying was the motto under which he worked and sold his works to a small audience during that period. That his artistic expressions did not go unnoticed became clear when in 1995 none other than the late Herman Brood appeared in his studio and from that moment on an intensive collaboration began. Herman visibly enjoyed Fabian's creativity and wanted to learn from him how to weld and create in metal. The young artist enjoyed all the attention and support from Herman, who taught him a few fine tricks of the trade. Not long afterwards, the so-called Herman Brood trophy was created. A work of art made from scrap iron that Herman then painted and awarded to a Dutch celebrity who, in Herman's eyes, had done something special or unique. For example, Pistolen Paul, Willibrord, Hans Dulfer, Jules Deelder, and others once received a magnificent saxophone made by Fabian from Herman Brood. Meetings between the two men followed each other in rapid succession, after which Herman taught the young artist the finer points of painting. They collaborated on numerous canvases, with Fabian frequently taking care of the background. Fabian learned quickly and eagerly, and both worked from numerous locations on Herman's artworks. This intensive collaboration resulted in a new joint project in 1999, designing the complete interior of the first Herman Brood café, which was artistically designed under the name Go-Ape. Herman Brood's delight in his student was evident when Fabian was invited to start his own studio with Herman, enabling them to collaborate even more intensively. Fabian has since built a stable and well-known reputation in the established art world and is listed in the RKD (Netherlands Institute for Art History) register.
