Fabian took his first steps in contemporary art in 1992. He artistically made various objects, sculptures and statues from old iron and various metals. Experimenting, learning and above all enjoying was the motto under which he worked and sold his works to a small audience in that period. It became clear that his artistic expressions did not go unnoticed when none other than the late Herman Brood appeared in his studio in 1995 and an intensive collaboration arose from that moment on. Herman visibly enjoyed Fabian's creativity and wanted to learn how to weld and create in metal from him. The young artist enjoyed all the attention and support of Herman, who taught him some tricks. Not long after that, the so-called Herman Brood trophy was created. A work of art made of old iron that was then painted by Herman and awarded to a famous Dutchman who, in Herman's eyes, had done something special or unique. Pistolen Paul, Willibrord, Hans Dulfer, Jules Deelder etc. once received a beautiful saxophone from Herman Brood made by Fabian. The encounters between the two gentlemen followed each other in rapid succession, after which Herman taught the young artist the intricacies of painting. Both worked together on countless canvases on the performance, with Fabian regularly taking care of the background. Fabian learned quickly and eagerly and both worked on Herman's artwork from numerous locations. This intensive collaboration resulted in a new joint project in 1999, with the complete furnishing of the first Herman Brood café, which was designed in a very artistic way under the name Go-Ape. It became clear that Herman Brood was very charmed by his pupil when Fabian received the invitation to start his own studio with Herman in order to work together even more intensively. Fabian has now built up a stable and well-known name in the established art world.
