Product description
Beautiful vintage armchair model 'FA04', designed by Yngve Ekström and produced by Pastoe in the 1960s. The Swedish designer, co-founder of Swedese and known for the iconic Lamino armchair, also designed a series of seating furniture for Pastoe in which Scandinavian simplicity, functionality, and comfort were central.
This armchair comes from Beverwijk, where it originally was part of a complete seating group with the matching FA05 and FA06 armchairs. The FA04 distinguishes itself by the absence of armrests, which gives the design a particularly open and playful character. In our opinion, perhaps the nicest version from the series.
the armchair has been fully restored, with respect for the original design and preservation of natural patina. The solid teak frame has been carefully cleaned and refinished, bringing out the warm wood color beautifully again. The seat and backrest are fitted with new foam and then re-upholstered in Tonica by Kvadrat, a high-quality wool upholstery fabric in a warm, deep red hue. The subtle color nuances and fine structure of the fabric create a beautiful contrast with the teak wood.
The design is characterized by a low, open construction with straight wooden legs and visible connections. The generous, slightly reclining backrest and the thickly upholstered seat ensure relaxed seating comfort. Due to the absence of armrests, the special shape of the upholstery stands out even more, and the seat almost seems to float. The slender wooden frame simultaneously gives the whole an airy appearance.
A playful and characteristic piece of Dutch design where form and comfort come together beautifully. An armchair that is not only special to look at but also wonderfully comfortable. After a thorough restoration, ready for years of use.
