This is a handmade roll-top desk, manufactured in 2001. The piece of furniture is entirely constructed from solid Mninga hardwood, an exclusive wood species from East Africa. The design combines the aesthetics of a classic 19th-century Desk with a robust, artisanal construction.
The Desk is made from Pterocarpus angolensis (African rosewood), known as Mninga, characterized by its warm, golden-brown to deep red color and a striking, flamed grain structure. The dimensions are 140 cm wide, 72 cm deep, and 116 cm high. The functional design includes a smoothly operating roll-top that reveals a work surface and a built-in organizer with various compartments. For storage, the Desk is equipped with two drawer units and two pull-out panels above the drawers.
The furniture is in good, solid condition and shows a natural patina that accentuates the character and age of the wood. The construction is sturdy, and all parts, including the drawers and the roll-top, are functional. The finish highlights the rich texture of the Mninga wood.
