This highly decorative chandelier features numerous individually formed, heavily textured clear glass elements arranged around a chrome-plated metal structure. Their irregular organic surfaces resemble sculpted ice and create a spectacular optical effect, refracting and diffusing the light throughout the surrounding space.The contrast between the expressive glass elements and the restrained chrome-plated construction is characteristic of sophisticated Austrian lighting design of the period. Suspended from a long chrome rod with a black ceiling canopy, the fixture has a strong architectural presence while retaining an elegant sense of transparency.A striking example of 1960s Space Age and Mid-Century Modern lighting, equally suitable as a statement chandelier above a dining table, in an entrance hall, living room or sophisticated contemporary interior.The chrome-plated elements have been carefully repolished and the electrical system has been renewed.
