This is an etching by the Dutch artist Henri Louis (Hans) Nieser (1885-1943), depicting a farm scene. The work shows a detailed rendering of a courtyard with wooden barrels, doors, and window shutters, which is characteristic of the artist's figurative style. Biography Hans Nieser (1885 – 1943) was a painter, draftsman, and etcher. He was a pupil of L. Senf. In 1910, he was part of the community of artists active in Heeze, Brabant. His painting or etching work is of high quality but is scarce and therefore rarely comes onto the market. The etching is executed in black and white on paper and is framed in a wooden frame with a passe-partout. The work is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. On the back is a label from Kunsthandel Bozo in 's-Hertogenbosch, indicating the provenance of the piece. The artwork is in good condition, commensurate with its age. The frame and passe-partout show some signs of age, which contributes to the authentic character of the whole. This etching fits well in a classic or country interior. The work comes into its own beautifully on a gallery wall or as a standalone piece in a study or hallway.
