Erika Mod. 105 Typewriter – GDR – AWERTY – Perfect Condition, in original case.
Description:
Vintage Erika 105 typewriter from the former GDR, with AWERTY keys. In perfect working and cosmetic condition and in original case, fully functional and well-maintained. Ideal for collectors or as a stylish retro desk accessory.
The yellow Erika 105 was manufactured in East Germany (GDR) in the late 1970s and 1980s by the VEB Kombinat Robotron factory. These portable typewriters were designed for export and are known for their quality, comfortable, and light-touch keys. While the basic model is from the East German era, the "Erika" brand itself has a much longer history, with the Olympia typewriter factory splitting after World War II and the East German factory continuing to produce Erika and Optima models.
Olympia-Werke, founded in 1903, sold typewriters internationally under the Olympia brand. After World War II, the company split: West Germany continued as Olympia, while the East German factory produced typewriters under the Erika and Optima names. In the 1980s, the Erika 105 was manufactured by VEB Kombinat Robotron.
