This chromolithograph, created in 1910 from a studio photograph, was staged to showcase the grandeur of Viennese imperial and aristocratic culture. The use of highly trained and prized Lipizzaner horses was intended to highlight the Lipica Stud Farms, the pride of Emperor Franz Joseph I.
The kiss between the protagonists is purely staged; kissing in front of a camera was not common practice in 1910!
The photograph is attributed to Carl von Bergen, a renowned specialist in equestrian scenes. Secure delivery will be via Mondial Relay, from one Relay point to another.
