Product description
This set of six contemporary lacquered wood chairs (purchased new in 2000) is inspired by classic Ming dynasty furniture. Their distinctive silhouette, known as the 'scholar's hat', features a high backrest and clean lines. Each chair is made of solid wood with a vibrant red lacquered finish, an emblematic color of Asian craftsmanship. The seat is made of woven rattan, offering a textural contrast and flexible comfort. The construction demonstrates traditional craftsmanship, with wood joinery (mortise and tenon) integral to the design. No screws. The overall condition is very good, with minimal signs of wear except, on one of the chairs, a slight chip on the seat and some paint flaking on the stretcher (see photos 9 and 10). These Dining chairs will fit perfectly in both modern and eclectic interiors. They can also be used individually as accent chairs in an office or living room to add a touch of color and character.
