Product description
A rarer executive version of the Parioli Office chair with a double backrest, designed by Ennio Fazioli for MIM Roma, Italy. The Parioli series was introduced in 1960 and remained in production for decades, with numerous variants and later developments appearing. This executive version is distinguished by its special double backrest construction, consisting of two separately formed, upholstered parts placed in sculptural outer shells. The chair is upholstered in black leather and features deep button tufting on both the seat and the two back sections. The outer shells are finished in high-gloss black, which creates a strong contrast with the soft leather upholstery. Rectangular, open armrests emphasize the architectural character of the chair. Early examples of this executive version with a double backrest are known to have a metal four-star base. This later version features a swivel five-star base on wheels, including height adjustment and an integrated tilt mechanism. The height is controlled via the lever on the side. The same control can also activate a subtle backward movement of the seat and backrest, causing the chair to tilt only a few centimeters instead of fully reclining. A separate rotary knob on the underside regulates the resistance of this movement. The original MIM Roma label is present on the rear shell. A distinctive and relatively rare version of Fazioli’s long-running Office chair collection for MIM Roma; a combination of a sculptural shell construction, deep leather upholstery, and a more advanced adjustment mechanism for executive use.
