About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a stately grandfather clock by the English maker Enfield, crafted from richly grained oak. Its traditional silhouette and detailed carvings exemplify classic horological design, making it a significant and functional piece of decor.
The clock is housed in a solid wood case, featuring a glass-fronted door that reveals the polished brass pendulum and weights. The case is distinguished by its intricate carvings, including a figural pastoral scene on the base, fluted columns, and an ornate, scrolled crest. The clock face, marked "Made in England," is finished in white with black Arabic numerals and decorative hands, all framed by a brass chapter ring.
Presented in very good condition, the clock retains its original finish and character. The oak has developed a warm patina over time, which enhances the depth of the grain and the detailed woodwork. The mechanical components appear well-maintained and complete.
With its commanding presence, this Enfield clock is perfectly suited for a grand entryway, a formal living room, or a distinguished study. It serves as a timeless focal point in interiors that favour classicism, traditional English style, or rustic elegance.
