Simone van Bakel (1966) attended the Art Academy in 's-Hertogenbosch and graduated in Monumental Art. She later came into contact with ceramic art and established herself around 2000 as an independent artist, specializing in glass and ceramics. She has exhibited extensively, both at home and abroad, and her work can be found in a number of leading ceramics museums, from Leeuwarden to Beijing. She won many awards.
In her ceramic work she makes generous use of the many possibilities that ceramics offers, also in the imitation of other materials. Nothing is what it seems and nothing seems what it is
