Encaustic (wax and pigments) painting, by Berlin artist Gabriele Styppa, with Frames, from 2021.
The artist has been working with this technique, which has existed since Graeco-Roman antiquity, since 2021. The technique was very common and was supplanted by tempera painting.
It was not until artists such as Jackson Pollock and Jasper Jones used electrical devices to melt wax that painting regained popularity.
The artist has dealt with the luminosity and transparency of the colors in this picture.
This peculiar transparency was created by applying and removing paint.
