Superb elephant mask-helmet from the Kuba tradition, of the Mukyeem / Mukenga type, originating from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With its astonishing and highly sculptural silhouette, its long curved trunk, and its abundant decoration of cowrie shells, this piece offers an exceptional presence in an interior. 🤎
Entirely crafted in an artisanal spirit, it combines raffia and plant fibres, textile, gazelle skin, and numerous hand-sewn cowries. The different textures, natural beige and brown tones, as well as the geometric patterns create a particularly warm and graphic ensemble.
🐚 The white cowries provide a beautiful contrast and rhythm across the entire surface of the headdress.
🌾 The natural fibres surrounding the base accentuate its organic and authentic character.
